REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) TO BECOME A ‘FELLOW OF AFRIHEALTH OPTONET ASSOCIATION (FAHOA)’, WITH PARTICIPATION IN THE PRE-INDUCTION WORKSHOPS/PROGRAMMES FOR INCOMING FELLOWS

 

BACKGROUND

The Afrihealth Optonet Association (FAHOA) is a global network of over 3,000 civil society organizations (CSOs), academia, think tanks, researchers, development actors, and community-based groups working on health, environment/biodiversity, climate change, sustainable development, gender, governance, human rights, and related issues from 120 countries across all the Continents. AHOA promotes advocacy, partnerships, research, capacity building, outreaches/community engagements, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and multi-stakeholder engagement in pursuit of the SDGs, AU Agenda 2063, and other global development frameworks.

 

As part of our effort to honour excellence, foster leadership, and build a sustainable network of development influencers, AHOA is accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified individuals to be each inducted as a Fellow of Afrihealth Optonet Association, and be entitled to use the letters FAHOA after their names.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE FELLOWSHIP

• Recognize professionals and development actors with outstanding contributions to health, climate action, sustainable development, humanitarian interventions, human security, gender equity, good governance, human rights, community development, women development, welfare of older persons, and sustainable livelihoods.
• Build a prestigious body of experts, advisors, mentors, and ambassadors for AHOA and its programmes.
• Support regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and policy advocacy through a strong Fellowship network.
• Mobilize Fellows to lead initiatives, contribute to research, and promote civil society engagement in Africa and globally.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet ANY of the following minimum qualifications:

·         Academic Background: A university degree in any relevant field (e.g., health, environmental science, gender studies, law, agriculture, economics, public policy, international development, etc.); OR

·         Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in civil society, development, governance, public service, academia, or international cooperation; OR

·         Track Record of Impact: Demonstrated leadership, innovation, or significant contribution to policies, community impact, research, or institutional strengthening; OR

·         Integrity and Credibility: Known for ethical leadership, commitment to inclusive development, and respect for diversity and human rights; OR

·         Commitment to AHOA’s Mandate: Willingness to support AHOA’s mission, serve as a mentor or resource person, and actively engage in knowledge sharing and advocacy; OR

·         Endorsement: Nominated or endorsed by a member organization of AHOA or a credible institution in the development sector.

 

FELLOWSHIP BENEFITS

1.       Official conferment and induction as a Fellow of Afrihealth Optonet Association (FAHOA).

2. Visibility on AHOA platforms, to represent AHOA in local and international/United Nations Events, and opportunity to use the post-nominal title: FAHOA
3. Access to exclusive policy dialogues, technical workshops, and strategic events.

1. Opportunity to serve as a leader, mentor, technical advisor, on FAHOA projects and committees.
2. Certificate of Fellowship and public recognition across appropriate AHOA’s publications and networks.

 

INDUCTION WORKSHOP FOR FELLOWS

All successful applicants must attend the Induction Workshop for Incoming Fellows, which is a requirement for formal conferment.

• Date: 6^th & 8^th August 2025
• Venue: Online Platform/Virtual via Zoom
• Starting Time (3 hours each day): 2:00 pm WAT / 9:00 am ET / 1:00 pm GMT/UTC) / 4:00 pm EAT / 8:00 pm Bangkok / 6:30 pm Delhi / 3 pm Kyiv/SAT/CET / 1 pm London / 10 am Rio / 9 am NYC / 8 am Bogotá / 7 am CentroAmerica / 4 am Baker Island
• Theme: “Fellowship for Leadership and Impact in Development Interventions”
• Participation Fee: US$150 per Fellow (to cover certificate of participation, workshop materials, digital listing, recognition plaque, certificate of recognition as Fellow, and logistics). Payments in Naira are welcome at the prevailing open market rate. Persons who wish to make payments in Naira are kindly requested to indicate so while emailing their CVs.

 

The global presentation of the Fellows shall hold during the Global Recognitions and African Civil Society Conference [GRACC 2026] to be held in Abuja, 24 – 26 February 2026. All the Fellows will be show-cased in the GRACC 2026 Brochure.

 

NOTE: Payment of the US$150 fee is mandatory for participation and must be completed before the induction workshop date. Payment details will be provided to selected candidates.

 

The AHOA Fellowship Selection Committee will review all applications based on merit and eligibility. Selected candidates will be notified within 2-4 days of submission of their CVs, and invited to proceed with registration and participation in the induction workshop.

ARRIÈRE-PLAN

L' Association Afrihealth Optonet (FAHOA) est un réseau mondial regroupant plus de 3 000 organisations de la société civile (OSC), universités, groupes de réflexion, chercheurs, acteurs du développement et groupes communautaires travaillant sur la santé, l'environnement/la biodiversité, le changement climatique, le développement durable, le genre, la gouvernance, les droits humains et les questions connexes, dans 120 pays sur tous les continents. L'AHOA promeut le plaidoyer, les partenariats, la recherche, le renforcement des capacités, la sensibilisation et l'engagement communautaire, le suivi et l'évaluation (S&E) et la mobilisation multipartite en faveur des ODD, de l'Agenda 2063 de l'UA et d'autres cadres mondiaux de développement.

Dans le cadre de nos efforts visant à honorer l'excellence, à favoriser le leadership et à créer un réseau durable d'influenceurs du développement, l'AHOA accepte les expressions d'intérêt (EOI) de personnes qualifiées pour être chacune intronisée en tant que membre de l'Afrihealth Optonet Association et avoir le droit d'utiliser les lettres FAHOA après leur nom.

 

OBJECTIFS DE LA BOURSE

• Reconnaître les professionnels et les acteurs du développement ayant apporté des contributions exceptionnelles à la santé, à l’action climatique, au développement durable, aux interventions humanitaires, à la sécurité humaine, à l’égalité des sexes, à la bonne gouvernance, aux droits de l’homme, au développement communautaire, au développement des femmes, au bien-être des personnes âgées et aux moyens de subsistance durables.
• Constituez un corps prestigieux d’experts, de conseillers, de mentors et d’ambassadeurs pour l’AHOA et ses programmes.
• Soutenir la collaboration régionale, l’échange de connaissances et le plaidoyer politique grâce à un solide réseau de bourses.
• Mobiliser les boursiers pour diriger des initiatives, contribuer à la recherche et promouvoir l’engagement de la société civile en Afrique et dans le monde.

QUALIFICATIONS ET CRITÈRES D'ÉLIGIBILITÉ

Les candidats doivent satisfaire à l'une des qualifications minimales suivantes :

·          Formation académique : Un diplôme universitaire dans n’importe quel domaine pertinent (par exemple, santé, sciences de l’environnement, études de genre, droit, agriculture, économie, politiques publiques, développement international, etc.) ; OU

·          Expérience professionnelle : Au moins 10 années d’expérience pertinente dans la société civile, le développement, la gouvernance, la fonction publique, le milieu universitaire ou la coopération internationale ; OU

·          Antécédents d’impact : Leadership démontré, innovation ou contribution significative aux politiques, à l’impact communautaire, à la recherche ou au renforcement institutionnel ; OU

·          Intégrité et crédibilité : Reconnu pour son leadership éthique, son engagement envers le développement inclusif et son respect de la diversité et des droits de l’homme ; OU

·          Engagement envers le mandat de l'AHOA : Volonté de soutenir la mission de l'AHOA, de servir de mentor ou de personne-ressource et de s'engager activement dans le partage des connaissances et la défense des droits ; OU

·          Approbation : Nommé ou approuvé par une organisation membre de l’AHOA ou une institution crédible dans le secteur du développement.

 

AVANTAGES DE LA BOURSE

1.        Remise officielle et intronisation en tant que membre de l'Afrihealth Optonet Association (FAHOA) .

2. Visibilité sur les plateformes AHOA, pour représenter AHOA dans les événements locaux et internationaux/des Nations Unies, et possibilité d'utiliser le titre post-nominal : FAHOA
3. Accès à des dialogues politiques exclusifs, à des ateliers techniques et à des événements stratégiques.

1. Possibilité de servir en tant que leader, mentor, conseiller technique, sur les projets et comités de la FAHOA.
2. Certificat de Fellowship et de reconnaissance publique dans les publications et réseaux appropriés de l'AHOA.

 

ATELIER D'INTÉGRATION POUR LES FELLOWS

Tous les candidats retenus doivent assister à l' atelier d'accueil des nouveaux boursiers , qui est une exigence pour l'attribution officielle.

• Lieu : Plateforme en ligne/Virtuel via Zoom
• Heure de début (3 heures par jour) : 14h00 WAT / 9h00 ET / 13h00 GMT/UTC) / 16h00 EAT / 20h00 Bangkok / 18h30 Delhi / 15h00 Kiev/SAT/CET / 13h00 Londres / 10h00 Rio / 9h00 NYC / 8h00 Bogotá / 7h00 CentroAmerica / 4h00 Baker Island
• Thème : « Bourse pour le leadership et l'impact des interventions de développement »
• Frais de participation : 150 USD par boursier (pour couvrir le certificat de participation, le matériel d'atelier, l'inscription numérique, la plaque de reconnaissance, le certificat de reconnaissance en tant que boursier et la logistique). Les paiements en nairas sont acceptés au taux du marché. Les personnes souhaitant effectuer un paiement en nairas sont priées de le préciser lors de l'envoi de leur CV.

 

La présentation mondiale des boursiers aura lieu lors de la Conférence sur les reconnaissances mondiales et la société civile africaine [GRACC 2026] qui se tiendra à Abuja, du 24 au 26 février 2026. Tous les boursiers seront présentés dans la brochure GRACC 2026.

 

REMARQUE : Le paiement des frais de 150 USD est obligatoire pour participer et doit être effectué avant la date de l'atelier d'intégration. Les modalités de paiement seront communiquées aux candidats sélectionnés.

Le comité de sélection des boursiers de l'AHOA examinera toutes les candidatures en fonction de leur mérite et de leur admissibilité. Les candidats sélectionnés seront informés dans les deux à quatre jours suivant la soumission de leur CV et invités à s'inscrire et à participer à l'atelier d'accueil.
